Ngāmotu Pony Club also offers excellent and very affordable grazing at the Huatoki Dam Site, with approximately 30 acres available.
The Grazing Managers at Huatoki are Jo Reweti and Julia Stephens. To enquire about availability, contact them at npponyclub@hotmail.co.nz. If there are no spaces available, grazing places can change frequently, so ask to be added to the waiting list and keep in regular contact with the Grazing Managers to maintain your interest.
To access grazing at the Pony Club members’ rate, you must be an active Pony Club member and regularly participate in rallies, either mounted or unmounted. Grazing spaces for non-members may also occasionally be available, so please contact the Grazing Managers to check.
All grazers are expected to contribute to the upkeep of the grazing areas and help with the usual responsibilities of communal horse care, including shifting ponies, poo-kicking, weed spraying and other general maintenance.
Communal grazing is a great way to transition into horse ownership. It provides an opportunity to learn about caring for and riding your pony in a safe, supportive and knowledgeable environment, while becoming part of the Pony Club community.
